Intown Guitar Repair is owned and operated by Jeff Rice: luthier, musician, family man and all around good guy. Jeff apprenticed under the great Mike Marshall and worked in the southeast's busiest repair shop located outside Atlanta, Georgia before starting his own shop in the great city of Austin, Texas. A few years later, Jeff relocated to Greenville, South Carolina. He setup shop in the beautiful downtown area and quickly became known as the "go-to-guy" among the area musicians. After five successful years in Greenville, Intown Guitar Repair has returned to Atlanta, the place where it all began.
Over the years, Jeff's reputation as a skilled luthier and repair tech gained him the business and respect of the some of the finest players out there. His client list has grown to include local guitar heroes and celebrities willing to entrust their most prized instruments to Jeff's skilled hands.
Jeff is also an accomplished musician in his own right and has remained active on the music scene at the local and national level by playing drums, guitar or bass in several bands. He is a former member of Ryan Adams' band, Whiskeytown, playing bass on the critically-acclaimed album, Stranger’s Almanac. More recently, Jeff anchored The Jaywalkers on drums in support of the release of their debut album.
Jeff's latest incarnation of Intown Guitar Repair is situated in the bustling area of Midtown Atlanta where he and his family settled in the beautiful neighborhood of Morningside. Jeff's bright, airy and well-equipped bungalow shop is located behind his home, so please call ahead for an appointment and directions. He will be happy to help get your ailing axe on the road to recovery!
In addition to being a multi-instrumentalist, music lover and guitar aficionado - Jeff is a coffee fanatic, familiar with just about every coffee shop in the southeast. When he's not busy fixing your latest disaster, you'll find Jeff out and about supporting the local music scene or sampling the java around town.
