What we do

Frets wear down, lose their crown, develop divots — and your intonation suffers. We file them flat, re-crown them, then polish through four grits of sandpaper and steel wool to a high shine. A fret dress includes a Pro Setup. When the wire is too low to dress, we refret — your choice of size, with extra care on finished maple necks where the original lacquer often has to come back on.

Every guitar should be set up about once a year, and again whenever you change string gauge. Wood is hygroscopic — it absorbs and releases moisture and the setup shifts with it. Acoustics are especially susceptible. See the full Pro Setup checklist below.

Constant string pull, age, humidity, and wear can bend, bow, twist, warp, or crack a neck. High-end acoustics are made to be reset — but it’s not a DIY job. For broken headstocks (especially Gibson tilt-backs), save the splinters and bring it in. For extreme cases, ask us about Neck Surgery.

Components age. Noisy switches, scratchy knobs, intermittent output jacks — we replace them and keep your bandmates happy. A full rewire (pots, switches, wiring) is especially effective on older or less expensive guitars. Pickup swaps are surprisingly affordable. We also install piezo systems, on-board EQ, and hybrid mic-blend rigs for acoustics.

Bone produces the best tone — especially on acoustics — but the big manufacturers stopped using it long ago. The plastic and Corian replacements do nothing for tone. We hand-craft nuts and saddles out of bone, slot each one to the exact gauge of your strings, and polish through four grits to a high shine. You’ll hear the difference.
